Wentzville School District Announces Pending Land Purchase For New Elementary School. The site is near the northwest entrance of the Stone Meadows development at Perry Cate Boulevard.
As stated by Mark Becker of Westplex Daily News.com:
“The Wentzville School District has announced the proposed purchase of 31.1 acres on Highway Z in Wentzville, where the District intends to construct a new elementary school. The land sits near the northwest entrance of the Stone Meadows development at Perry Cate Boulevard. “We are very pleased that this purchase is moving forward,” said Superintendent Dr. Curtis Cain. “The location of the land serves our needs as that area is the fastest growing segment of our District.” The WSD continues to be the fastest growing district in the state, adding on average between 500 and 600 new students each year since 2001.
The pending purchase of the land is contingent on zoning and development approval through the City of Wentzville and access approval by the Missouri Department of Transportation. The District hopes to close on the land purchase in November or December and begin construction in the spring.
“The purchase of the property and construction of the new school will be financed with proceeds from Proposition E which was approved by voters in April,” said WSD CFO Pam Frazier. This will be the tenth elementary school in the Wentzville School District, and the tenth school built in the WSD since 2000. Once the sale is final, the District will form a Boundary Committee made up of parents, staff, and community members to help determine the attendance area for the new elementary school, tentatively scheduled to open in the fall of 2017.”
The plans will be presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission on October 6 and the Board of Aldermen on October 14. There will be public hearings at both of these meetings to allow for public input, and any residents are welcome to attend.
Residents that cannot attend either meeting, but would like to express their opinions can email Mayor Nick Guccione at email@example.com, Alderman Cheryl Kross at firstname.lastname@example.org or Alderman Robert Hussey at email@example.com
